The CSU cycling team had our last race of the road season this weekend in Durango. We had a fantastic spring, winning a total of 16 races and hitting the podium more times than I care to count. Despite winning the omnium in every D1 men’s division we were second to Fort Lewis College in the team omnium. We are looking forward to the rule changes going into effect next year that favor actual talent over sheer numbers.
Although the celebration has already started, the collegiate season isn’t over for everyone just yet. We will once again be sending a team of As to Collegiate Nationals. Zack Allison, Logan VonBokel, Dylan Jones, Clint Mitchell, Luke Harris, Phillip Somers, and Carly Rivezzo are in for a long van ride next Wednesday to Madison, Wisconsin. The racing kicks off Friday with a hilly road race, followed by a team time trial Saturday, and a criterium Sunday. Hopefully we will bring back some medals if not a stars and stripes jersey, and maybe even get some studying done in the van.
