A UCI Stage Race in Fort Collins?

I'm sure you've all heard that the UCI sanctioned Quiznos Pro Challenge seven day stage race is coming to Colorado and I bet you're all wondering if it is coming to Fort Collins.  Well, the answer is maybe.

Medalist Sports the organizers of the Tour of California, Tour of Missouri and the Tour of Georgia sent out Requests for Proposals to Colorado communities at the beginning of August.  The City of Fort Collins received one of those proposals.  Depending on the level of commitment (or lack there of) we could land a stage start, finish, both or neither.   The city of Fort Collins, the Fort Collins Conventions and Visitors Bureau, and the NCCE met this week to discuss the possibility of bringing the race to Fort Collins. The final decision will be made based on the amount of cash required by the event promoter.

Medalist Sports is attempting to have the route finalized by late September. Stay tuned to YGR for further info.
