Stuart Culp Benifit Ride

Article written by Dave Cho

Saturday, November 21st was the ride and dinner with Tom Danielson of Garmin-Slipstream to benefit Stuart Culp and his family. Four spots were auctioned off back in September, and it raised over $600 dollars that went directly to the Culp family. The four lucky winners (Jack Erving, Mike Geoffrion, Ryan Lewandowski, and Rod Wahle) each donated over $100 for the cause and the chance to spend the day with a Pro-Tour rider.DSC_0148

The “weather-gods” were kind to us as we met at Dave Cho’s house for some pre-ride TD Coffee and other goodies. Jimmy D (Jim Dunlap) was our official photographer as Karen Cho drove the support vehicle. We decided to see if Tom still had his climbing legs and rode up to Masonville and towards Carter Lake. Turns out Tom still has it as he showed us what is required in the hills to be a pro. Once all back together, we leisurely rode the rest of the ride in tight formation and had some good laughs as we all discussed life in the pro peloton.

Once the ride concluded, we rested up and eventually met again later that night at Tom’s ranch estate in Boulder. Our friend and professional chef, Biju Thomas prepared a fantastic dinner of stuffed roasted chicken, potatoes, veggies, and an incredible homemade corn bread concoction. Tom and his wife Steph were super gracious hosts and Tom gave a little speech about Stuart and wishing him a fast and full DSC_0184recovery and letting us know if there’s anything else he can do to help just let him know. All in all, the whole day was a huge success and a lot of fun and since it was for a meaningful cause, it was truly a day to remember.
